Fireflies are beetles of the family Lampyridae, which come is a wide variety of over 2,000 species. They measure up to one inch in length with a lifespan of up to months in the wild.
Fireflies live in temperate climates and a variety of warm environments, where there is moisture. They live near water damp or wet areas in dry climates of Africa and the humid regions of America and Asia.
