How are flamingos able to fall asleep on one leg?
Flamingos can stand on one leg because it is a position that takes the least energy. On June 1, 2017, researchers published new findings of flamingos in Biology Letters. The birds appeared to be more balanced when they slept on one leg. The researchers reported that they were able to make even dead flamingoes stand on one leg. However, the dead birds easily tipped over when they were made to stand on two legs.
