Not only do dragonflies add beauty and sparkle to rivers and ponds, but they also consume large amounts of mosquitoes, flies, and wasps. One dragonfly can eat 30 to hundreds of mosquitoes per day, in effect curbing the spread of malaria by controlling the mosquito population. Moreover, the design of dragonflies has inspired technological advancement. However, many people are not aware of their usefulness. The main problem dragonflies are facing is the loss of habitat.
