Spiders invite themselves into your home because it is warmer and drier. The risk of creepy crawlies entering your home is higher during the rainy season when outside is wet. However, do not fret there are ways to keep them out.
Spiders hate vinegar. Mix 50/50 water and vinegar and spray cracks and corners. Avoid spraying on varnished surfaces. Tea tree, cinnamon or rose oils also works excellent.
If you are not put off touching spiders, you can use gadgets that trap our eight-legged friends. Most spiders produce venom to kill prey. However, not all spiders are dangerous to humans.
The conker myth
If you research on the net, some people believe that conkers contain a noxious chemical, the smell of which spiders can’t stand. Spiders will not enter your house when you spread conker in entrances and windows.
Dr. Geoff Oxford of the British Arachnological Society called the “conker business a myth.” Testimonies about arachnids found sitting on conker or cobwebs in windows sprayed with conker are not uncommon.
No one has scientifically proved that conker chases away the eight-legged intruders.
